In a year when UK soft-top sales are down overall, MINI has bucked the trend. The best-selling convertible of 2005 is set to be the MINI Convertible, already scoring 11 per cent more sales by the end of November (YTD) than the best-selling convertible of 2004.

 
 
Mercedes-Benz honoured with two Top Gear Awards

Following a year in which the company has introduced or upgraded nearly its entire product range, two new Mercedes-Benz models have been presented with awards by BBC Top Gear Magazine.

 
Mazda Kabura and All-New Mazda CX-7

Mazda will unveil two world premieres at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January; the Mazda KABURA compact sports coupe concept vehicle and the all-new Mazda CX-7, a crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV). Joining them will be the Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid concept vehicle, powered by a RENESIS hydrogen rotary dual-fuel engine that can use hydrogen or petrol. Mazda will hold a press conference at the Mazda stand from 17:05 to 17:30 local time on Sunday, 8 January 2006.
 
BMW Z4 Coupé and Z4 M Coupé confirmed

BMW has confirmed that a production version of the show-stopping Z4 Coupé Concept, first unveiled at this year’s IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, will go on sale in the UK in summer 2006.
 
 
Audi to compete with Diesel Sportscar at Le Mans

Audi will become the world’s first car manufacturer to fight for overall victory with a diesel-engined sportscar in the famous Le Mans 24 Hours. The Audi R10 was unveiled in Paris today (13 December) with the German prestige car maker aiming for its new “open-top” sportscar to continue in the wheeltracks of its ultra-successful predecessor.
